Terms of Service

Last updated: April 19, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Limato, a browser extension and related web services (the “Service”). The Service is operated by a self-employed individual (trabajador autónomo) established in Spain, contact [email protected] (“Limato”, “we”, “us”). Our full identification, tax number, and fiscal address are available on request to competent authorities and to users with a legitimate legal interest. By installing, accessing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Plain summary. Limato is an AI writing assistant for non-native speakers. You can use the Free tier or subscribe to Pro (billed by Lemon Squeezy). Don’t abuse the Service or submit illegal content. AI output is not guaranteed to be accurate — review before relying on it. You can cancel any time and request a refund within 14 days.

1. The Service

Limato is a Chrome (Manifest V3) browser extension that lets users highlight text on any web page and rewrite it using an AI model — for example, to change tone, simplify, or translate it into another language. The Service consists of the extension, our backend APIs, and this website.

2. Eligibility and accounts

3. Subscriptions, billing, and Merchant of Record

4. Free tier and fair use

The Free tier is offered subject to daily request limits (per device and per account). We may change these limits, or add protections against automated abuse, at any time. Free-tier usage must be personal and non-commercial in nature.

5. Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In short: we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first Pro purchase. After that window, renewals are generally non-refundable — but cancelling stops any future charges.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you have violated these rules.

7. Your content

The text you submit to the Service (“Input”) and the rewritten text returned to you (“Output”) remain yours. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to process Input and Output solely to provide the Service to you (for example, to send text to our AI provider and return the result). We do not use your content to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy for details on processing and retention.

8. AI-generated output

Limato uses third-party AI models (currently provided by OpenAI) to generate rewrites. AI output can be inaccurate, inconsistent, or inappropriate for your context. You are responsible for reviewing any Output before relying on or publishing it. We do not warrant that Output is accurate, non-infringing, or fit for any particular purpose.

9. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party providers, including OpenAI (AI model), Cloudflare (hosting and rate limiting), Supabase (authentication and database), and Lemon Squeezy (payments). Your use of those providers may also be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for their actions or outages.

10. Intellectual property

The Limato extension, backend, website, name, and logo are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the extension for personal or internal business use. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the extension outside the official Chrome Web Store.

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using the Service you agree to the data practices described there.

12. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and, if applicable, cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections on Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law) will survive.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Limato and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) EUR 50.

15. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Limato and its operators from any claim, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (i) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, (ii) the content you submit, or (iii) your violation of any law or third-party right.

16. Changes to the Service and to these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by the competent courts of Spain.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence, including (where applicable) your statutory right of withdrawal under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).
